Tama Art University student uses Ultrasuede® and is selected as a YKK Fastening Awards finalist
YKK Fastening Awards is a unique fashion contest that spotlights fastening products including zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners, buckles, snap fasteners, and buttons. It is open to student entries and this year is the 18th for the contest, in which a creation called "suppocks,"designed by Fumi Takata, a student of Tama Art University, passed the final screening and she became a finalist. Toray made its product Ultrasuede® available for this creation.
Fumi Takata's creation was a supporter designed for people suffering from a torn Achilles tendon to use. The product's key concept was designed with the fastening in mind. It was also designed to relieve the mental stress to sufferers of this condition and was selected as one of 30 finalist creations from among the 6,056 entries submitted by students from 58 schools throughout Japan.
Toray's decision to offer Ultrasuede® was made in response to Ms. Takata's request to use the material for her creation because she very much appreciated the material's attractive appearance and ease of laser-cutting as well as its high durability.
Ultrasuede® keeps evolving toward "Beautiful Possibilities" that await us in the future.
