Cash Contributions in aid of "Nepal Disaster Fund" and Affected Nepalese Employees of Penfabric

The world reacted with sadness over the 7.8-magnitude earthquake which erupted near Kathmandu on 25th April 2015. Taking into account another 7.3-magnitude tremor which happened near Mount Everest three weeks later, more than 8,500 lives and half-million homes have been lost. It was the worst natural disaster to have strike Nepal. Saddened by this disaster, Penfabric Management Staff Association (PMSA) initiated a donation drive among the employees of the four Penfabric's mills. With generous contributions by PMSA members and well-wishers, coupled with Penfabric management's financial support with a matching "one-for-one" donation raised, some RM20,000 were collected. On 21st May 2015, a donation hand-over ceremony was held in Penfabric, in the presence of the Honorary Consul General of Nepal in Penang, Datuk Huan Cheng Guan. On behalf of PMSA, Chairman Mr. Mohd. Zalman handed cash donations to the nine affected Nepal employees. Later, a Company's cheque amounting RM10,000 was presented by its DMD Mr. S.B. Ho to Datuk Huan towards the "Nepal Disaster Fund", a humanitarian aids fund initiated and managed by the Embassy of Nepal in Malaysia. The management and staff of Penfabric extends their profound sympathies to the victims and pray that Nepalese would remain strong in this time of difficulties and hardships. We wish Nepal a speedy recovery.
