“MTSF Science Education Fair” – 30th November to 1st December 2013 

Malaysia Toray Science Foundation (MTSF), established by Toray Japan and Toray Group (Malaysia) in 1993 with the noble objective of promoting science and technology in Malaysia is 20 years old this year. To commensurate the 20th Anniversary of the Foundation, a free public educational program “MTSF Science Education Fair” was organised from 30th November to 1st December 2013 at the National Science Centre (NSC), Kuala Lumpur Over these 2-days exhibition, some 23 selected science teachers, being past winners of MTSF Science Education Award were at hands to showcase their innovative and effective science teaching methods. The Fair was declared opened by Dr. Lee Boon Hua the Deputy Rector of the “Institute of Teacher Education”,on behalf of the Deputy Minister of Education, YB Datuk Mary Yap. In the address, the Deputy Minister thanked Toray Group for its noble CSR initiative in establishing this premier charitable science foundation to promote science and technology in the country. The Ministry of Education is particularly impressed with the “MTSF Science Education Award” which helps to promote innovative, creative and effective science teaching methods in class. These incentives for the Science teachers have brought significant positive impacts among our secondary school students, i.e., making science learning in class easy and fun. The MTSF Science Education Fair was a great success as some estimated 5,000 local and outstation visitors, young and old swarm the 20 exhibition booths.MTSF certainly looks forward to organising more science related programs in the coming years, for the benefits of the Malaysian communities.
