Employees of Toray Malaysia support USM-APUCEN “RM1 Each Person Fund Raising Initiative” for ENGAGE Nepal

In April 2015, Nepal was hit by a massive earthquake which claimed nearly 9,000 lives and injured some 22,000 people, many of them made disabled and homeless. To help these disabled victims rebuild their livelihood and gain back self-confidence, ENGAGE Nepal undertakes fund raisings through a series of ENGAGE Empowering Basketball League at Nepal. ENGAGE Nepal is made up of international community of volunteers who help to bridge the local communities at Nepal. Contacted by Asia-Pacific University Community Engagement Network (APUCEN) based at USM, Toray Malaysia also participated in the “RM1 Each Person Fund Raising” initiative. Within a brief period of 2 weeks, some four thousand Ringgit Malaysia were contributed from Toray Malaysia’s employees voluntarily. The donation collected was officially handed over Toray’s representative, Mr. KK Hun to ENGAGE Nepal’s representative in Malaysia, Ms Khu Li Huang, herself an accident disabled person since her teen years. Witnessing the event was Prof. Dato’ Dr. Aileen Tan, the Executive Director of APUCEN. Toray Malaysia is pleased to a part of this CSR initiative, as “Service to the humanity is the best way of Life”
