TORAY Group (Malaysia) supports Education Efforts, in conjunction with UNITEN Charity Dinner 2014

In line with Toray’s corporate philosophy of “Contributing to society through the creation of new value with innovative ideas, technologies and products”, TORAY Group Malaysia (TGM) constantly supports social activities which benefits the local communities, particularly in the field of education. At TGM, we believe human resources are the most important assets which can be developed through education and systematic training. Towards this end, TGM recently made a small cash donation to UNITEN Chancellery Foundation (YCU) which it tasked to acquire, administer and distribute funds to facilitate education opportunities for the underprivileged students at Universiti Tenaga National (UNITEN). Under the patronage of Penang Governor, Tun (Dr). Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Abbas, the “UNITEN Charity Dinner” held in a leading hotel at Putrajaya on 21st June 2014 was well attended by many other supporting organisations and individuals, including 11 representatives from our Malaysia Toray Science Foundation (MTSF) and TGM. The dinner commenced with a welcoming speech by Tan Sri Leo Moggie, the Chairman of UNITEN, followed with a maiden speech by Tun (Dr). Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Abbas. Mr. Junji Kawakatsu, the Group HR & Admin Executive Director of TGM was later invited on stage to present a mock cheque to the foundation, in the present of the Governor and the UNITEN Chairman. A sumptuous dinner was later served, along with various artists and live band performances. It was truly a night to remember for those present.
