TORAY Group (Malaysia) supports Safety, Health and Environment Education Programmes in Malaysian schools

In sync with Toray’s CSR initiatives of promoting regional development and fostering better generation of tomorrow, TORAY Group Malaysia (TGM) constantly supports meaningful social activities which benefits the local communities, especially in school and education programmes. Towards this end, Toray Plastic (Malaysia) [TPM] recently participated in the “Safety and Health Awareness Campaign” organized by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH). Launched in Penang by the Deputy Minister of Human Resources, the pioneer “Developing a Safe and Healthy School” model is to help reduce accident risks and environment accidents in schools. The stimulation training and exercises enable students to learn good safety and environment culture from a young age so that they can be better prepared when they join the workforce later in life. This is in line with the Malaysian Government effort to supply human resources with high Safety and Environment Protection awareness by the year 2020. Under this meaningful education awareness programme, participating industrialists including personnel from TPM were on hand to share their safety, health and environment knowledge with the school management, particularly the students and teachers. In the aspect of physical improvement and the usage of safe furniture and equipment in schools, TPM donated some 43 units of chair of good ergonomic design to the adopted school, SMK Guar Perahu Indah for use by its students, teacher and computer labs. Guided by our CSR objectives, we look forward to continue these meaningful efforts for the future betterment of the schools and education in the country.
