“GREENDAY 2014” at Penfabric Mill 4
A “Recycling Campaign”, entitled “Greenday 2014” was carried out at Penfabric Mill 4 this year. Held over two times, one from 30th Dec 2013 to 3rd Jan 2014 and the second one from 12th to 19th June 2014, the project was aimed at raising awareness and promoting proper recycling habits among the employees of Penfabric and Toray Group (Malaysia). All recycle goods collected were donated to “Tzu Chi”, an international humanitarian organization for fund raising purposes.
To promote and publicize the event widely, the organizing committee uses banners, printed memos, emails and other electronic notifications, including the recently adopted enterprise social network, Yammer. Clear posters bearing instructions of what can and cannot be recycled were also distributed to every department prior to the events.
All donations made by the individuals and departments were recorded in respect of the types and weights of recycled goods collected. The top 3 generous donors, in term of weights, were rewarded with cash vouchers. To add excitement and competition during the second campaign, employees were constantly kept informed of the day’s collection via emails.
A total of 944 kg and 1178 kg of recyclable items were respectively collected from the 1st and 2nd campaign periods.
