ONE THOUSAND TREES TO BE PLANTED AT PENFABRIC
Wednesday, 24th July 2013 marks a historic chapter in Penfabric’s history when the Managing Director, Mr H.S.Teh, planted a Hopea Odarate or White Thingan as in layman term and the first of one thousand trees, to green our premises and contribute to environmental preservation. Over the next few months, the primarily woody type trees and scrub type plants will be planted at various locations at Penfabric Mill 4.
At the Tree Planting Ceremony, Mr Teh professed that doing business is not just about making money. It should come with corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental sustainability. We should look beyond the usual parameters of quality, cost, lead time and productivity to stay in business. Responsible companies also need to protect and conserve the environment for our future generations.
Mr Teh expressed his hope that these trees will grow and provide the necessary shades and protection for the environment. It is similar to nurturing the next generation to take over our duties and responsibilities.
This CSR initiative of greening the environment will later encompass all the other Mills. At TORAY Group (Malaysia), we want our people, our customers, Toray and the world to know that “WE CARE!”
