Asian Four Country HR Meeting

Toray Industries (Malaysia) Sdn. Berhad (TML) recently hosted in Penang, a total of 31 participants from Toray companies in four Asian countries (Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and China) for the inaugural Asian Four Country HR Meeting held from January 16-17, 2015. Organized by Toray International Human Resources Department, one of the main objectives of the Meeting was to facilitate discussion among the Toray Asian HR managers to accelerate “Strengthening of Local Human Resources”. Toray, being a progressive global company, gives recognition to the contributions of capable local nationals and strives to promote them to top executive positions. Mr H. Yoshimura, the Managing Director of TML, in his welcoming address emphasized that business is expanding rapidly in the ASEAN and emerging countries and the development of local human resources is an important issue at Toray. “Although there are lots of business opportunities in these countries, there is also tough competition. In order to achieve business growth, we must be able to hire and retain employees with high potentials. Therefore, local promotions are essential and I hope that more and more local managers will be able to rise up to the challenge and assume high management positions,” he remarked. At the conclusion of the Meeting, all the participants expressed their satisfaction for the well-organized Meeting whereby they had gained invaluable knowledge and expertise through the wonderful discussions, sharing of materials and best practices that will certainly help them to improve the HR management in their respective companies. Additionally, they very much appreciated the opportunity given to HR staff outside of Japan to voice their ideas and opinions, as well as foster friendship and form effective human network with HR colleagues from Toray Japan and the Asian subsidiaries.
