Filing Patent Infringement Lawsuit against
Ningbo Solartron Technology Co., Ltd

 Toray Industries, Inc. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Akihiro Nikkaku; hereinafter referred to as "Toray") today announced that it filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Ningbo Solartron Technology Co., Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as “Ningbo”) in Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court on October 25, 2019. The lawsuit claims infringement of Toray’s Chinese Patent No. 200780040088.8 to the product of white film by Ningbo relating with its LCD backlight reflectors (Accused products: DJX250P and DJX300P), seeks injunction barring sales and production of the accused products, and collection of damages for the past infringement in China.  The patent has features of specific relation between reflection and wave length of white polyester films, and covers white polyester films relating to LCD backlight reflectors widely.  The polyester films “Lumirror TM” for reflectors that Toray produces and sells, are based on its patent technologies including the Chinese patent technology, and they are widely used in backlight type LCDs all over the world.  Toray group is convinced that “Materials have the power to fundamentally change the world”. According to the conviction, Toray group has been investing in research and development continuously, and has a lot of intellectual property rights to provide innovative products to customers.  Toray has worked on business development for long time in China. The objectives of the lawsuits are protection for the important patented inventions necessary for the business development by the Chinese laws, and promotion of innovation and fair business growth in the film business.  Toray does and will, if necessary, take appropriate steps globally to protect its intellectual property against infringement in accordance with one of the basic IP policies: “Rightful Enforcement of Our Own Rights”.
