Ultrasuede® featured in Tama Art University Graduate’s Solo Show: “Composition, Structure and Monologue”
Runa Takeuchi, a graduate of Tama Art University, held her first solo show at an art gallery in Shibuya, Tokyo on the three days beginning November 20, 2020. Ms. Takeuchi majored in Textile Design at the University’s Department of Product and Textile Design, and Toray has been providing Ultrasuede® for graduation projects of students from this department. At her show, she showcased the textile artwork creations she had planned to unveil at the graduation project exhibition. This was originally scheduled for the spring of last year but was cancelled due to COVID-19.
On exhibit were creative cutwork designs that took advantage of Ultrasuede®’s unique features, as well as original prints and designs that combined an Ultrasuede® material with different textiles. Samples that presented her creation processes, which she developed through ongoing research, were also on display.
Ms. Takeuchi, who has become an active designer after graduating from the university said, “It was an exciting study, and motivated me to create new textures using Ultrasuede® materials. I want to continue producing artwork creations and designs, even if it’s just a little at a time.”
