Fashion Forward Ultrasuede® Design by Halston

Spring is in the air, bringing with it new waves of fashion possibilities. As each season passes, we turn to our closets to see what’s “in” and what is “out.” Yet there are some things that remain timeless … Ultrasuede remains one of those things.

Travel to the Museum at FIT and you’ll see a fabulous display of iconic fashion, designed by Yves Saint Laurent + Halston, two designers who defined fashion as we knew it in the 1970s. Halston’s celebrated shirtdress and use of Ultrasuede has proven that classic shapes and textures never go out of style. “Halston’s menswear influence is embodied in his iconic shirtwaist dress—basically a man’s shirt refined, lengthened, belted and ingeniously cut from his beloved Ultrasuede (a fabric soft yet crisp, and quite luxe when quilted)” says The Wall Street Journal of the exhibit. Halston made Ultrasuede so popular that in 1977, the New York Times referred to it as “the Rolls Royce of Fabrics.” Here’s the full article so you can see for yourself.

Fast forward to present day and take a look at the runway shows for Spring 2015. Suede is everywhere, and in all forms according to The Style_ist {the Charlotte Observer}. And it’s not just the kind that comes from leather either. Vegan-friendly Ultrasuede is perfect for spring fashions, and cruelty-free to boot.

It’s easy to achieve timeless style at home, too, with Ultrasuede.
