Toray continues to donate Ultrasuede® material for use in ESMOD JAPON student graduation projects

ESMOD is a fashion-related educational institute headquartered in Paris with a network of 19 schools in 13 countries around the world. ESMOD JAPON is one such school and since 2018, Toray has been contributing its renowned Ultrasuede® product, providing a welcome opportunity for ESMOD JAPON students to use this iconic material in their graduation projects. This year, four of the students who participated in a material seminar held in June, were able to make use of Ultrasuede® for a wide array of creative designs in their graduation projects. Being able to work with Ultrasuede® provided a valuable opportunity for experiencing and understanding the product’s unique features. For example, one student appreciated the product’s cutoff feature that eliminates any need for piping. Another student mentioned that being able to use the full length of the material allowed her to add a rich drape to her design as Ultrasuede® allows cutting the material in much larger sections than genuine leather. One of the teachers commented on how design possibilities really opened up with the new ideas of young students developing to take advantage of the material’s distinctive features. At the graduation collection show held at the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal on March 8, Mai Tanaka’s design using Ultrasuede® received the Success Brand Award. This award recognizes outstanding designs that maintain an excellent balance between innovative creation and fulfilling consumer requirements. Through its product Ultrasuede®, Toray aims to conduct a business that contributes to an enriched society, and passes it on to the next generation. By living up to this vision, Toray has been providing fashion and design-related educational institutes in Japan as well as abroad with exclusive Ultrasuede® materials and related informational resources without any charge since 2016. By doing this, Toray is committed to fostering young and talented designers. Ultrasuede® keeps evolving toward a future full of “Beautiful Possibilities.” Designers: Mai Tanaka Momone Kakinuma Rima Tanaka Erdenebat Enkhjin
