Rodi Rotatiedruk to Celebrate 30th Anniversary
Netherlands-based Rodi Rotatiedruk, founded in 1989, is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and Toray is celebrating with them. We appreciate their long-term partnership with us!
Dick Ranzijn, Sr., founded Rodi Media as a newspaper publishing business in July of 1989. The company acquired its first press in September of that year in order to be able to print, as well as publish, newspapers. Today the company has an annual turnover of about €35 million, with its print house, Rodi Rotatiedruk, accounting for €18 million of that with its 53 employees. Dick Ranzijn, Jr., Technical Director at Rodi Rotatiedruk, states, “We were the first company in the world to acquire a Koenig & Bauer Cortina press using Toray waterless plates. We wanted to address the growing customer demand for more full color, and we also wanted to be conscious of our environmental footprint with the acquisition of a new press. As environmental regulations in Europe grow stricter, that decision seems prescient, and we are ahead of the game as the only green newspaper printer in The Netherlands. Newspapers can’t be green unless you print them on a waterless press.”
Rodi Rotatiedruk produces 29 weekly and two daily newspapers, as well as printing newspapers for other publishers. “With our Cortina configuration, which has four folders attached, we can print four different papers simultaneously,” Ranzijn notes. “We are also pleased that our long-time partner Toray has added plate manufacturing in the Czech Republic to complement its Japanese manufacturing footprint to ensure there will be no interruption in our plate supply!” Rodi Rotatiedruk is currently using Toray IMPRIMA WA waterless offset plates and was also the first Cortina printer acquiring the Toray TWP-1250 plate processor!
